Sydney International Boat Show 2019

The new ICC Sydney in Darling Harbour

Thursday 1st August and Friday 2nd August

We invite you and your students to participate in the Marine Industry Careers Activity Day at the

2019 Sydney International Boat Show in Darling Harbour. The Boating Industry Association and Marine Teachers’ Association have worked closely to devise an activity day that allows flexibility around when you visit, and which also engages students and encourages them to look beyond the boats and think about the types of careers that are on display at the Boat Show.

In addition, the Dive Expo Team has confirmed they will be repeating their hugely popular Marine Education Program in 2019. A series of 45 minutes seminars will cover three topics, an introduction to scuba diving, the importance of marine conservation and an introduction to freediving. Three sessions are available each day, see booking form on reverse for times. Spaces are expected to fill quickly and will be allocated upon receipt of registration.

How it works:

1. Complete the registration form and return by: email - megan@bia.org.au or fax 02 9439 3983

or post FAO Megan Robson, Boating Industry Association, PO Box 1204, Crows Nest NSW 1585. Please return no later than Tuesday 23 July.

2. Sort your students into teams of 4 or 5.

3. When signing in on the day, each team will be given an activity sheet which they must complete during their time at the Show.

4. Once they have completed the activity sheets collect them from your students and hand them all in to the representative on the MTA Desk within the Boating Safety Zone (stand 600).

A few things to consider:

Entrance to the Show is free, providing all completed activity sheets are handed into the Education Stand before you leave. However, your school will be charged the normal student entry fee of $11 per student if the activity sheets are spoiled, incomplete, blank, or if any are missing. If you have any questions about the Careers Activity, please call (02) 9438 2077 or email Megan at megan@bia.org.au.
